ANNOUNCEMENT OF TALB NEA REPRESENTATIVE ASSEMBLY 2024 

There will be 23 TALB Delegates to the NEA Representative Assembly in Philadelphia, PA.

Nominations are open to all TALB members to serve a single term for 2024.
The term for each NEA Representative is July 2 – July 6, 2024

Important Dates:

  • Declaration of Candidacy: 6:00 a.m. Wednesday, March 13 – 4:30 p.m. Friday, March 22, 2024. 

  • Notification of Candidates on the ballot: Monday, March 25, 2024. 

  • Election: 6:00 a.m. Wednesday, March 27, 2024 – 4:30 p.m. Friday, April 5, 2024. 


Anyone interested in running for office should file a Declaration of Candidacy form (see download link below) so that it is received by Friday, March 22, 2024, at the TALB office, 4362 Atlantic Ave., Long Beach, CA 90807 no later than 4:30 PM. Post-marked dates will not be accepted.

IT IS THE RESPONSIBILITY OF THE CANDIDATE TO ENSURE THAT THE DECLARATION OF CANDIDACY FORM AND CANDIDATE STATEMENT ARE RECEIVED BY THE DUE DATE AND TIME. 

All candidates may provide TALB with a statement in PDF format. All candidates will be limited to 250 characters. Characters are letters, numbers and punctuation. 

Example: I love TALB! = 10 characters. 

The candidate statement must be in PDF format and emailed or hand delivered to Blanca Paredes at bparedes@talb.org Statements are due in the TALB office on Friday, March 22, 2024, by 4:30 P.M. Declarations of Candidacy forms are available through www.talb.org, or at the TALB office. 

NEA-RA Representatives are elected by a plurality of votes. 

Plurality Vote – The greatest number of votes cast by persons legally entitled to vote, excluding blank or illegal ballots

Learn your rights and how to deploy the Grievance Process at one of these important training program sponsored by TALB.  Come join fellow colleagues to discuss and explain the grievance pr0cess.

You’re never too young or old to learn about your CalSTRS benefits, programs, and services. There will be materials and discussion of the CalsTRS retirement benefit formula, options, Defined Benefit Supplemental program, survivor benefits, legislative changes, and Social Security Offsets.
